History

Only a few of Czech industrial enterprises can be proud of a more than 120-year tradition of quality production and extensive markets that Spojené kartáčovny a.s (United Brushfactories) of Pelhřimov can.

Spojené kartáčovny a.s. is the biggest brush ware products producer in the Middle and East Europe. Products are sold in more than 15 countries, number of employees is about 420, an annual turnover is more than 900 Mio CZK (45 Mio USD)

  At that time the majority stake of shares has been aquired by two shareholders. From the point of ownership the situation was stabilized.

  During the last ten years the company was undergoing a rapid development in the production modernization, new production technologies with high automatization level and productivity were bought to satisfy domestic and especially foreign customers. In the frame of the company?s development new facilities have been built up and logistics issues were solved by creating of a new, modern warehousing facility. The new up-to-date machineries are capable to produce series of million of products per month and therefore more than 50 % of the production is aimed for export markets.

  Spojene kartacovny was privitatized in the first wave of coupon privatization, which led to a further change in the company's ownership, The company was now owned by privatization funds and individual shareholders.

  After 41 years Spojené kartáčovny was transformed into a state owned joint-stock company once again.

  Together with the political and economical change in the fall of 1989 Spojene kartacovny was facing significant organizational changes.

  a new, extensive brush production facility was built on Libkovodská Street in Pelhřimov to replace the old factory, which was no longer suitable

  The brushmaking companies merged to create Spojené kartáčovny.

  The company was divided into two brush-making companies.

  The Zadrev brush works were separated off to form a new national enterprise, Spojené kartáčovny, with its headquarters again in Pelhřimov. At that time the company had 14 branches, located in various parts of the country.

  A lack of operating capital and growing competition led Hrdina to establish a joint-stock company - "The First Pelhřimov Joint-Stock Brushware Factory.

 

 

1907
  Due to the company's commercial success, especially in foreign countries, the factory was expanded again in 1907 and equipped with more powerful motors and special machines.

 

 

1900
  In order to satisfy orders from all over the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Hrdina had to take the next step and build a new, modern factory, which was completed at the end of 1900.
